NCAA Lacrosse: Women's Semifinal - Syracuse Orange vs. Maryland Terrapins Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team has had a rough few weeks, but on Sunday, they were able to right the ship — at least temporarily. SU beat No. 20 Duke, 10-9 on the road. It’s the Orange’s first true road win all season (in four tries).

With the win at Duke, Syracuse moves to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the ACC (tied for second with Notre Dame).

The Orange attacked the Blue Devils pretty aggressively on Sunday, taking 34 shots on goal, and winning 19 ground balls. Riley Donahue, Alie Jimerson and Neena Merola each scored two goals for SU. Donahue and Jimerson each added two assists as well.

Syracuse started the first half well, earning a 5-2 lead at one point, before Duke battled back to make it 6-4 at the break. After the game tied at seven in the second half, the Orange managed to keep enough distance with Duke from there to keep the win.

SU has five games remaining on the season, including very tough games at North Carolina and Louisville, plus a home game vs. Virginia Tech.

Next up is Syracuse’s third straight road game, this time at Loyola this coming Wednesday, April 5.
