If you haven’t been paying attention at all, the Syracuse Orange men’s rowing team has been putting in a pretty good season. Their latest honor? Being ranked seventh in the USRowing Coaches Poll — their highest appearance since 2011. Don’t believe me? Here’s some proof:
Last weekend, SU beat a couple of ranked squads — No. 6 Boston University, No. 18 Columbia — on the Onondaga Lake Outlet, to take home the Conlan Cup. They’ll host No. 6 Darmouth this Saturday, with the Packard Cup on the line.
I won’t pretend to be some expert on rowing here. So if there’s anyone who’s sort of knowledgeable in the cup system and trophies for crew. Or maybe was on the Orange team? That’d be even better. Seems like a pretty cool scene, to be honest, so would love to learn more about it (and perhaps the same could be said for others here, too).
If you’re in CNY, you can also probably head over to Liverpool to check things out at 8 a.m. ET this weekend.
Good luck to the team!
