Syracuse and Virginia football get into it on Twitter over recruiting

This was silly, and there’s a remedy Syracuse didn’t utilize.

On Tuesday, the Syracuse Orange and Virginia Cavaliers got into it on Twitter... over a recruit.

Not in plain sight, really. That would make this even more juvenile. But they did it through photoshops and veiled references to grocery items.

Y’know, like adults.

Confused? Here’s the brief exchange below.

The recruit in question, North Carolina defensive tackle Ja’mion Franklin, retweeted the last note too, soooo... sounds like he’s going to UVA?

Now, Syracuse didn’t respond. Which is probably for the best, considering how far down the rabbit hole the level of discourse already got. But in passing up the opportunity, the Orange really did miss a chance to get a dig in on the Hoos. It wouldn’t have been about football -- Virginia beat us in double overtime last time we played. But I could think of one basketball moment in particular that could’ve silenced the Charlottesville portion of this conversation.

Ahem...

See you guys during hoops season, Hoos.
