Looks like someone was impressed by Syracuse’s strong defensive showing during the team’s annual Spring Showcase on Saturday.
Hours after watching Syracuse’s defense limit its offense to just one touchdown during Saturday’s spring game, Class of 2017 defensive end Justin Ellis decided to commit to the Orange on the spot after receiving a scholarship offer during his official visit to SU, he announced on Twitter.
Feel very proud and blessed to announce I've received and accepted a scholarship to play football at Syracuse University #GodsTiming pic.twitter.com/8ApzfkPrWb

Ellis is listed as a 6-foot-3 and 240-pound strong-side defensive end from Roswell High School (Ga.) by 247Sports. He is unrated by all four major recruiting services (247Sports, ESPN, Rivals and Scout).
While he’s listed as a defensive end on 247Sports, and primarily plays the position in his highlights video, Ellis can also play outside linebacker, according to his HUDL page.
In addition to Syracuse, Ellis also received offers from Western Michigan, Bowling Green and Army, among others. He joins Kingsley Jonathan, Zach Morton and Brandon Berry as the four defensive end prospects in Syracuse’s 2017 recruiting class.
