The Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team came back from three goals down on Sunday to earn a big win over the Virginia Tech Hokies at home. SU grabbed its third straight victory, beating Tech 12-11 in overtime.
After trailing 6-4 at the half, the Orange fell behind 7-4 in the second before mounting their comeback. Mary Rahal scored the game-winner at 1:23 into OT. This moves Syracuse to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in the ACC -- second place in the conference.
Emily Hawryschuk led the way for Syracuse, scoring five goals while adding an assist. Devon Parker scored three goals of her own as well (while also chipping in an assist).
Syracuse has three games left on the season, and the three-game winning streak has them well-situated for another NCAA Tournament berth -- so long as they can close out the year reasonably well.
Next up is a critical matchup at UNC next Saturday -- with the winner pretty much situating themselves as the top seed in the ACC. Then they face Cornell (9-1) on very short rest the following Tuesday before closing at Louisville (10-5).
