That’s four losses in five games now for SU.

The Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team fell on the road to Princeton on Wednesday night, by a score of 16-11. SU found themselves down by as much as 9-2 in the first half, before closing the gap to 10-6 by halftime.

Syracuse was able to cut it to three, but then the Tigers widened their lead yet again, besting the Orange 6-5 in the second half to tally the five-goal victory.

Emily Hawryschuk and Riley Donahue led the Orange with three goals apiece. Asa Goldstock managed six saves (vs. 16 goals, obviously).

The win moves No. 7 Princeton to 7-1 on the season. No. 10 Syracuse drops to 8-4.

SU started the season with seven straight wins, but has seen diminishing returns since. The last five games have featured four losses of five goals or more, and a one-goal win over Harvard. Syracuse’s problems have risen, in part, from an extended period of time away from home. After five straight home games to start the year, just two of the last seven have been at SU.

Just two of the last six games of the season will be at home, which creates some concern as the Orange head toward their shakiest road to the postseason in awhile. Next up for Syracuse is Duke, in Durham this weekend.
