TNIAAM Super Bowl Open Thread (Where we openly root for Dwight Freeney)

Time for the “big game.”

NFL: Super Bowl LI-Atlanta Falcons Press Conference Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

As you’re well aware, Super Bowl XLI takes place this evening between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons.

Now, I don’t have to tell you that you’re rooting for the Falcons. You know this already. I mean, if it wasn’t enough that former Syracuse Orange star Dwight Freeney plays for Atlanta, your alternative is the Patriots. Enough said.

Some of you may be from the New England area, so you’re stuck with that team and fan base and all. There are also various SU connections to the Pats coaching staff, if you really want to dig further. I get that. But counter: Really, you’re rooting for the Patriots?

Thankfully, the Pats fans among this group at least have one thing going for them, as they’re also Orange fans.

So no matter who you’re rooting for (again, that should be the Falcons), at least root for Freeney, who could be playing his last game as a pro for all we know, to have a good game.

All I ask is that we’re civil to one another in the comments during and after the game, please. Despite the shit-talking above (like many of us, I am a Giants fan after all), we should be able to have a good time and just enjoy this. Together.

Speaking of enjoyment...
