The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team wanted to celebrate its best-ever senior class in their final regular season game at the Carrier Dome on Thursday night. They did so resoundingly, delivering an 85-64 rout of Wake Forest that was largely wrapped up by halftime.

SU outscored the Demon Deacons 27-18 in the first quarter, then 15-10 in the second, coasting into halftime with a 14-point lead. They were able to extend the lead to as much as 30 in the second half, despite Wake trimming the final deficit to 21.

Alexis Peterson was the Orange’s high-scorer for the evening, with 25 points on 11-for-22 shooting. Briana Day, Brittney Sykes and Gabby Cooper all scored in double figures as well, with 17, 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Adding an impressive 15 rebounds, Day recorded her fifth double-double in the last seven contests.

Seniors Isabella Slim (eight points) and Bria Day (two) also scored, giving every departing player at least two points on the evening.

Along with some struggles from the free throw line (just 66.7 percent), Wake barely shot over 40 percent from the floor, and also turned it over 25 times. Those 25 turnovers led to 29 points for the Orange.

Syracuse improves to 19-9 (10-5 in the ACC with the win), while the Deacons fall to 15-13 (6-9 in ACC). With one game to play in the regular season, SU is currently in sole possession of sixth place in the conference. A win at Pittsburgh on Sunday, coupled with an additional loss by NC State (at Virginia) could move them up to the fifth seed going into the ACC Tournament.

SU tips off against the Panthers at 2 p.m. ET on February 26.
