The Syracuse Orange men’s soccer team was able to add three new defenders to the squad on National Signing Day. Nik Steiner, Evan Peters and Justin Earle will be on campus and training this fall.

Nik Steiner

Twitterfeed: Negative

Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland

High School: Friends School of Baltimore

Club Team: Baltimore Armour / Baltimore Celtic

Position: Right Back / Wingback

Ratings: 2 Star from

Player Breakdown: Nik seems to be a ball playing defender that isn’t afraid to join the attack. His highlights above include some solid tackling and the ability to use his size to his advantage. He was listed as 5’10” / 165lbs as a junior, though I’m unsure how much he’s grown, that’s a solid base to work from.

Evan Peters

Twitterfeed: Nothing.

Hometown: Valley Stream, New York

High School: Valley Stream North High School

Club Team: New York Red Bulls Academy

Position: Right Back / Wingback

Ratings: Unrated by

Player Breakdown: He was the starting right back for the NYRB Academy team, so he’s a solid player that was good enough to excel at one of the country’s top development academies. This is the same academy that has produced US National Team capped players including Juan Agudelo and Matt Miazga.

What’s Mac Think?:

Justin Earle

Twitterfeed: Still nothing.

Hometown: Stittsville, Ontario

High School: Sacred Heart High School

Club Team: Ottawa Fury FC

Position: Centerback / Left Back

Ratings: Unrated by

Player Breakdown: Stable defender who can play as a centerback as well as possessing the versatility to play on the left in a less offensive formation. This should be solid in a three at the back set, similar to the role that Louis Cross played last season.
