The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team will have a record crowd for Sunday’s matchup with the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
As of yesterday, over 10,000 tickets have been sold for the 5 p.m. ET tip-off at the Carrier Dome. The previous attendance record for an SU home game was 4,357 (in 2012 vs. UConn).
On top of it being a critical matchup for the Orange’s potential NCAA Tournament seeding, ticket sales have been boosted by prices of just $2 per seat for groups. Those usually go for $5 apiece.
No. 21 Syracuse is currently 18-8 and 9-4 in ACC play. Notre Dame is 24-3 overall, and leads the conference with a 12-1 record. The Orange haven’t beaten the Irish since 2002 in the Big East Tournament.
For those in the local area, it’s definitely worth a few dollars to go see the women’s team in action this Sunday. On top of being part of a record crowd, it’s one of only a couple chances left to see some of SU’s stellar seniors on the team. The Orange have one more home game after this, vs. Wake Forest on February 23.
