The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team had its winning streak snapped on Friday vs. Duke. But luckily, the squad got right back on track vs. North Carolina on Sunday. SU won in dominating fashion, 95-64, to improve to 18-8 overall and 9-4 in ACC play.
Syracuse came out strong, with a 19-12 lead after one quarter, and then just poured it on from there. They led 43-26 at the half, and 66-49 after three. It’s the seventh time SU has scored 90 or more points in a game this year.
Brittney Sykes led the way for the Orange, with 34 points on 10-of-19 shooting. She’s scored 25 points or more in four of the last six games.
Alexis Peterson added 27 points of her own, of course. And Briana Day scored 19. Day also added 16 rebounds. It was her fourth double-double in the last five games.
Next up for the Orange is Notre Dame on Sunday, February 19. While SU’s resume is looking pretty great, a win over the Irish would settle concerns about Syracuse being overmatched by top-10 talent.
