Tommy DeVito talks Syracuse Signing Day with Matt Schick on ESPN2

The standout recruit had plenty to say after a busy morning for the Orange.

While Tommy DeVito was the first to send in his National Letter of Intent today, the Syracuse Orange QB had plenty more on his plate for the day. Along with chronicling portions of his morning and afternoon via Syracuse.com’s Snapchat feed, he was also on ESPN2 to talk all about SU.

The three minutes (and change) segment with Matt Schick covered everything from the recruiting process, to the Elite 11, the Virginia Tech upset and what lies ahead.

Notably, DeVito doesn’t plan to redshirt, though that doesn’t mean he won’t. Along with the 4-star freshman, Syracuse along brings back three more scholarship quarterbacks: Junior Eric Dungey, senior Zack Mahoney and (redshirt) freshman Rex Culpepper. Two of them have started quite a few games in the last couple years. But never say never on DeVito’s chances in 2017 if he’s able to learn the offense quickly.

DeVito also noted New York internship opportunities as one of the draws for SU, which it certainly is (though there’s certainly debate per industry, obviously).

While he didn’t enroll early (his school, Don Bosco, doesn’t allow for it), DeVito will still be spending the next few months getting acquainted with the offense via Skype in sessions with co-offensive coordinator Sean Lewis. Then he’s up to Syracuse in May to compete for the starting job.

Full video of DeVito’s interview below. Syracuse coach Dino Babers will also be speaking on Time Warner Cable Sports (and at Cuse.com) at 3:30 p.m. ET.
