2017 National Signing Day: Syracuse Orange commits sign letters of intent

New, 1 comment

Say hello to a whole new crop of Oranges (figuratively, not literally... don’t tweet at teenagers)

Welcome to National Signing Day 2017! That means it's time for the Syracuse Orange football recruiting class to become official. There may be surprises as well. Hopefully no bad ones.

This is Dino Babers’s second recruiting class at the helm at SU, and first with a full cycle to really pull in top players. #OrangeIsTheNewFast (now abbreviated #OITNF) kids will take up nearly half the roster by the time the summer rolls around. The vision is taking shape, but it’s dependent on the success of the 2016 and 2017 classes to start us off.

The list of (18) players we're expecting to hear from today include, with announcement times (on Eastern Time) where applicable:

  • Brandon Berry, DE
  • Eric Coley, CB
  • Dakota Davis, OT
  • Tommy DeVito, QB (1:35 p.m. on ESPN2)
  • Chris Elmore, DT
  • Aaron Hackett, TE (4 p.m.)
  • Curtis Harper, DT
  • Nykeim Johnson, WR
  • Sharod Johnson, WR
  • Cameron Jordan, WR (12:30 p.m.)
  • Jonathan Kingsley, LB (10 a.m.)
  • Ifeatu Melifonwu, S
  • Zach Morton, DE
  • Markenzy Pierre, RB
  • Tyrell Richards, LB
  • Allen Stritzinger, RB
  • Russell Thompson-Bishop, WR (1 p.m.)
  • Kadeem Trotter, S

Along with those 18 players, another four — Patrick Davis, Nadarius Fagan, Ryan Guthrie and Ravian Pierce -- are already on campus. Perhaps some other additions are made last-minute as well.

The @CuseFootball Twitter feed will be the first to know who’s signed, and then next is probably us (or at least, that’s our story). Follow that feed if you don’t already. Then clearly keep following @NunesMagician for everything Syracuse NSD as well. I’m going to be up early out here on the West Coast, but not when things get kicked off right at 7 a.m. ET. For those updates, Ari Gilberg’s your guy. You can follow him at @AriGilberg.

Keep it here for any and all updates. As faxes and other news streams in, we’ll be updating this storystream with more. You can also subscribe to updates above.
