While Syracuse may have lost out on St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) prospect Josh Palmer, SU was able, however, to retain slot receiver Nykeim Johnson, a small but speedy pass catcher who attended high school in our nation’s capital.

Other Offers: Johnson received offers from Virginia, Navy, Army, Hawaii and Bowling Green, among others.
Dino’s Projected Nickname: “Nykeim the Dream”
Longtime contributor Brisly Estime is graduating this May, but the Orange may have just found his potential replacement in Johnson. The similarities between the two are eerie. Both stand at exactly 5’9”. Both are prototypical slot receivers. And both can also serve as kickoff and punt returners on special teams as well.
While Johnson already has the speed to succeed at the collegiate level – he runs a 4.42-second 40-yard dash – he’ll need to bulk up considerably if he wants to avoid injury. Johnson weighs only 167 pounds, nearly 20 pounds less than what Estime weighed (185 pounds) when he signed with Syracuse four years ago.
