The No. 23 Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team (12-3, 0-2 ACC) lost its second straight game on Sunday in Charlottesville, Va. The Orange fell to the unranked Virginia Cavaliers 68-63 -- the second loss in as many tries versus ACC opponents. The 63 points scored by Syracuse on Sunday is a new team low for the season.

Syracuse point guard Tiana Mangakahia scored a game-high 20 points and passed for eight assists. Mangakahia has recorded at least eight assists in all-but one game this season. ‘Cuse forward Miranda Drummond scored a season-low six points in 29 minutes.
Digna Strautmane added 10 points and three rebounds. Strautmane and Mangakahia were the only two Orange players to score double figures.
Senior point guard Aliyah Huland El was Virginia’s top scorer. She scored 15 points in a team-high 35 minutes. Cavaliers center Felicia Aiyeotan added 12 and guard J’Kyra Brown scored 12 points in 27 bench minutes.
What’s Next?
Syracuse will play its first home game in 26 days when the return to the Carrier Dome on January 4 to face conference foe Georgia Tech. They will follow that contest up with a home showdown versus No. 13 Florida State on January 7.
