Syracuse Orange football recruiting is clearly improving, and one clear sign of that is when you look at the current rankings after day one of three-day early signing period.
According to the 247Sports composite, SU’s 2018 class is currently eighth in the ACC and 45th overall. When you look back at our time in the conference so far, these are definitely the best numbers put up yet.
Of course, the recruiting process is also far from over in 2018.
The Orange signed 15 players yesterday and lost (maybe temporarily?) the commitment of Tyrone Sampson, which automatically knocked things down a little. But that still leaves seven scholarships to go on a class that already appears to finish ahead of those put up by our programs in the bottom third of the league. A look at how the rankings currently stand:
1. Miami Hurricanes
8. Syracuse Orange
11. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
13. Duke Blue Devils

For those that are surprised we’re close to FSU, the ‘Noles only have nine commits so far, so they’re clearly going to climb. But everyone else below us has a similar number of commits and/or signees.
This is step one for Syracuse, upgrading the recruiting results. With better players in the door, wins will follow. It may take a little more time than the restless Orange faithful are always willing to sit still for. But this process appears pretty clear at the moment. Dino Babers is getting recruits to pay attention to what’s happening here and buy in.
We’re unlikely to look at updated results again until National Signing Day in February. However, these results should have you feeling pretty good as refocus on the final third of this class and close out strong.
