Highlights:
Player outlook: As you’ll recall, Syracuse loses all three starting linebackers from this season, plus the most notable reserve in Austin Valdez. That said, Valdez is the only player who was really geared toward the scheme. Allison, and the rest of this year’s linebacker commits, are better suited for what the Tampa-2 demands of the position.
Whether that coverage focus pays dividends right away though is up for debate. SU has linebackers on the roster but only a handful are built for this scheme. Allison could potentially work his way in should some of the current roster holdovers fail to impress. The more likely scenario is a year or two before he’s in the rotation. From the tape though, he should be more than capable once he’s on the field.
