Early signing period: ATH Atrilleon ‘Trill’ Williams signs with Syracuse

The New York product is already a strong contender on Syracuse’s all-time All-Name team.

The Syracuse Orange will be adding new football recruits throughout the early signing period, this Wednesday through Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? White Plains speedster Atrilleon “Trill” Williams.

Twitterfeed: @GOLD3N_BOII2

Hometown: White Plains, N.Y.

Previous School: Archbishop Stepniac

Position: Athlete (Cornerback)

Stats: 6’2”, 190 pounds

Commitment Date: March 27, 2017

Ratings: 247Sports said four stars and they also rated him among their top 247 prospects in the country. Rivals and ESPN only said three, so we’re ignoring them this time around.

Other Offers: Boston College, Pitt, Rutgers, Buffalo, Florida Atlantic (so the usual suspects, plus Lane Kiffin).

Dino’s projected nickname: “The Trill-a in Manila”

Update- Dino drops a “Swagga Like Us” reference on us to start the morning.

Highlights:

Player outlook: Williams brought a bunch of speed to both sides of the ball as a high school player, but he’ll likely slot in at cornerback for the Orange. That speed should still suit him well given the challenges of playing the position in the Tampa-2. He’ll need speed to cover at least 20 yards at a time, and hopefully force a few turnovers along the way too (unlike what we’ve seen for the past few years).

Like a lot of 2018’s additions, the likely goal is to redshirt in year one. Trill’s going to be an impact player in this defense. But with a significant amount of depth in front of him right now, that impact may just need a couple years. That’s not knock on him, though. And perhaps he’s able to leap a few names on the depth chart by year two in the system.
