The Syracuse Orange will be adding new football recruits throughout the early signing period, this Wednesday through Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? New York offensive tackle Qadir White.

Twitterfeed: @QadirWhite

Hometown: Bronx, N.Y.

Previous School: Cardinal Hayes

Position: Offensive Tackle

Stats: 6’7”, 334 pounds

Commitment Date: August 24, 2017

Ratings: Four stars from 247Sports, which also rates him as one of their top 247 prospects in the country. Rivals and ESPN only said three, however.

Other Offers: (just the tip of the iceberg) Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Penn State, UCLA

Dino’s projected nickname: “The Bronx Bomber”

Highlights:

Player outlook: Syracuse loses one starting tackle this offseason in Jamar McGloster, and another shortly thereafter in Cody Conway. The best Orange (or really, any) offenses have been those with strong tackle play, which brings us to White. The Bronx product is already at the sort of size you’d need at the power conference level and looks the part better than most have at SU recently.

He’ll hopefully redshirt this coming season, if only to learn the offense. But given the raft of offers he fielded from power programs, there’s always the chance he breaks through as a true frosh. SU’s line improved in 2017, but we could always get better. Whether in 2018 or beyond, White’s (massive) presence will help that process along.
