The Syracuse Orange will be adding new football recruits throughout the early signing period, this Wednesday through Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? JUCO linebacker transfer Lakiem Williams.
Twitterfeed: @Williams_Lakiem
Hometown: Spanaway, Wash.
Previous School: Butte College (CA)
Position: Linebacker
Stats: 6’2”, 240 pounds
Commitment Date: December 10, 2017
Ratings: 247Sports gave him three stars; no one else gave him any love
Other Offers: Cal, Houston, Toledo and Kansas
Dino’s projected nickname: Lucky Williams (kinda works, right?)
Highlights: (Self proclaimed ‘QB Nightmare’)
Player Outlook: After two years at a JUCO in California, he’s ready for big time football. Just with the tape you can see why Williams has a chance to start at linebacker. He’s the biggest recruit at his position, has speed to go with it (4.43 40-yard dash) and is mature enough to handle college ball. Things are looking young, but good for the Syracuse linebacking core.
Losing Parris Bennett, Zaire Franklin and Jonathan Thomas did not help SU. Having a squad of four freshman linebackers to work their way into the system is huge. If nothing else, Williams can be a backup linebacker and fly down the field on special teams.
