The Syracuse Orange will be adding new football recruits throughout the early signing period, this Wednesday through Friday. As each player signs, we’ll be posting profiles here on TNIAAM. Next up? Florida prospect Cameron Jonas.
Hometown: Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
High School: Dwyer
Stats: 6’1” and 187 lbs.
Commitment date: August 21, 2017
Rating: Three stars all around
Other offers: Jonas got a fair amount of offers from big-time programs, including Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, and Wisconsin (plus all the other notable ones too). After a brief period of flirting with N.C. State, he committed to the Orange before his senior year.
Dino’s projected nickname: “My Name is Jonas”
Update- Well don’t tell the Aerospace Engineering students about this
Just call this guy Air Traffic Control. All flights will be grounded in the Carrier Dome. @cameron_jonas9 pic.twitter.com/CSTKyMAVgh— Dino Babers (@CoachBabersCuse) December 20, 2017
Player Breakdown: A standout performer in high school down south, Jonas has good size and speed for a safety. Having returned kicks, as well as playing receiver a bit, he is not unfamiliar to having the ball in his hands. A somewhat crowded position, Jonas may be relegated to special teams (or a redshirt) for his first season. Yet, come a few years, expect to see a lot of the Palm Beach native in Orange.
