The Syracuse Orange currently have 18 players verbally committed for the class of 2018. You can read about most of them here, and 247Sports also has them listed out a bit more succinctly as well.
With the early signing period starting tomorrow for recruits, we wanted to take a look around at the program’s outside targets for the remaining scholarships. There are four available, so which names might end up signing with the Orange to take those spots? Also keep in mind that SU may not use all of its scholarships on early signing day, leaving a few (at least) for National Signing Day and/or JUCO signings afterward.
Chance Amie, QB (3 stars)
The Houston commit was on campus at Syracuse this weekend to do his due diligence before signing. Sean Lewis was his primary recruiter, so the co-OC’s departure to Kent State could throw a wrench into things. I’d think with the pending move, it was likely Lewis’s role was diminished during Amie’s visit -- but that’s just a guess. If Syracuse adds a QB in the 2018 cycle, it’s probably Amie.
Randy Charlton, DE (3 stars)
Charlton was also on campus this weekend, and will choose between Syracuse and Indiana on Wednesday. The Orange currently have no commits on the defensive line in this cycle, so a player like Charlton (who brings some speed from the Miami area) could be a huge boost.
Jahan Dotson, WR (4 stars)
Not banking on this one, as the elite receiver appears to be headed to UCLA. But Syracuse is among his top choices — a list that also includes Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin.
Tre Weed, WR (3 stars)
No indication from Weed if he’s signing early or not, but he’s been pretty excited about the offer since receiving it months ago from Syracuse. Not that SU necessarily “needs” more receivers in this class, but additional speed never hurt.

We’ll be publishing info on every signee as soon as the faxes go through, so stick around for coverage throughout the 2018 early signing period.
