Syracuse football recruiting: 3-star OG Carlos Vettorello commits to Orange

SU’s fourth addition since Friday.

The Syracuse Orange had a busy weekend on the recruiting front, and apparently they aren’t quite done yet.

Vettorello was on campus this weekend along with fellow recent commits Tre Allison and Lakiem Williams, and obviously it went well for everybody involved. The three-star offensive guard comes to Syracuse from University of Detroit Jesuit High School — the same school that produced senior linebacker Parris Bennett. SU’s done pretty well in Michigan recently, and Vettorello becomes the latest addition from the state.

With the addition of Vettorello, Syracuse is now at five offensive linemen for this cycle, and 18 players overall. As discussed during this morning’s recruiting priorities article, it did seem like SU would bring another O-lineman aboard, and they did. He joins Tyrone Sampson, Qadir White, Gabe Horan and Willem Froumy in what looks like a strong group of players to fill out SU’s future line needs.

Vettorello had offers from a slew of programs from around the country. Along with the usual suspects like Boston College, Illinois, Iowa and Kentucky, he was also offered by Oregon, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Minnesota and more.

Oh, and not that it matters much before National Signing Day (or the early signing period when most players will sign), but Syracuse is now ranked 37th in the 247Sports composite, despite having a lower number of commits than most would for 2018.

Welcome aboard, Carlos! You can find highlights below.
