The Syracuse Orange football program typically eschews orange elements for blue/#PLATINUM on Military Appreciation Day, and this year was no different. When SU takes on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, they’ll be donning quite a bit of #PLATINUM, plus a sick new helmet decal.
The Orange wore blue helmets, #PLATINUM jerseys and blue pants last year, with a camo block-S decal. This year, they’ve upped the ante, with #PLATINUM jerseys and pants, plus a really legit interlocking 44 decal on the helmet instead. It would be nice if the 44 logo was orange instead of gold, but it’s still a slick look.
Also of note, the model for the video is walk-on wide receiver Ben Brickman, who was a U.S. Marine for four years.
Syracuse may not really look like... Syracuse during this game, with the only giveaway being the Dome TV viewers will see in the background. But nothing wrong with wearing uniforms to show support for the troops for one game, or finally utilizing an awesome alternate logo in a way that features it more prominently. Now get it on more t-shirts, please...
This is the Orange’s first time wearing #PLATINUM since last year’s NC State game, and the first time wearing #PLATINUM jerseys and pants since the Virginia Tech win. While we deride the current uniform set, this is really the least orange we’ve been all season. SU wore all-whites vs. Miami, but at least had the orange block-S that day.
Syracuse is 1-2 all-time in both #PLATINUM jerseys and pants, with the Hokies win being the lone triumph. They’re 3-5 with blue helmets, though, including the upset over Clemson earlier this year.
