After taking the wait-and-see approach on the November 11 games last week, the ACC has announced all kickoff times and networks following Saturday’s action.
Wake fell to Notre Dame this week, 48-37. And of course, Syracuse lost 27-24 to Florida State. The Deacons are now 5-4 (2-3 in the ACC), while the Orange are 4-5 (2-3 in conference).
With wins, it’s possible that the teams could’ve been moved to the ESPNU slot instead of Virginia and Louisville, or potentially supplanted the Georgia Tech-Virginia Tech game at 12:20 p.m. on the ACC Network. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
Regardless, this is a critical game for both teams as they try for bowl eligibility. Wake’s in with a win, while the Orange need another two in the final three games to make the postseason. After the road trip to Syracuse, the Deacs host NC State and Duke, so no guarantees there. Similarly, SU faces steep tests in a road game at Louisville and hosting the finale against a resurgent Boston College team.
Syracuse is 4-2 all-time against Wake, including 3-1 since joining the ACC. Last year, SU visited Winston-Salem in a monsoon, and lost 28-9.
