After a couple weeks of being unranked (and receiving some votes last time around), they’ll enter the poll at No. 25.

The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team is gaining some national traction after a perfect 6-0 start and emerging as Paradise Jam Reef Division Champions a few days ago.

The Orange are officially ranked as of Tuesday, at least in one of the two major national polls. Syracuse received 60 total votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which jumped them up to No. 25 in the rankings.

Syracuse is the biggest mover in the poll, jumping five positions into the rankings up from the 30th-ranked vote-getter. South Carolina suffered the biggest drop as they went from No. 2 to No. 6.

Syracuse is not ranked in the Associated Press poll, however. The Orange received six votes there and are technically 33rd.

Syracuse is not the only ACC squad in the polls, of course. A handful of other ACC squads are also ranked. Notre Dame is second behind UConn at the top. Louisville is fifth, while Florida State is 11th, and Duke is No. 16.

The Orange face a national powerhouse in Mississippi State on December 21 in Las Vegas, as a part of the “Duel in the Desert.” The Bulldogs ranked No. 3 in the the Coaches Poll this week.

As for Syracuse’s next game, Northwestern comes to town to face SU this Thursday as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge (and the Orange’s third power conference foe this year already). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at the Carrier Dome.
