Syracuse vs. Boston College Official TNIAAM Predictions & Poll

New, comments

It would be nice to win this one, even if it doesn’t mean anything in terms of our bowl eligibility...

The Syracuse Orange (4-7, 2-5) follow up your Thanksgiving and Black Friday festivities with a football game on Saturday. When the Boston College Eagles (6-5, 3-4) come to town, we don’t have any bowl chances on the line. But we can still spoil their potential destination, and earn some #OrangeEagle points. Both of those seem like worthwhile rewards in lieu of the postseason.

With Eric Dungey (and Dontae Strickland) still questionable, it certainly puts a damper on our outlook in this one. But with or (very likely) without Dungey, these teams will kick off from the Carrier Dome at 12:20 p.m. If you’re not there, you can catch the game on your local ACC Network affiliate, or WatchESPN.

So what does the TNIAAM staff think will happen in this game?

Syracuse will play well enough to leave us all begging for that 6th win. I don’t think SU will look sluggish or like they’ve given up. Expect an outstanding defensive effort with Bennett and Franklin playing their last game in the Dome. I’m giving Murphy a couple of field goals in his last game because #seniorpride. Orange on top, running out of the dome until next year with at least something to be happy about.

I think the leaders of the Syracuse team get the group prepared to close out the season with a win. BC's going to try and run, run and run some more and Zaire Franklin will be up to the challenge. Zack Mahoney makes enough plays on offense to set up a late Cole Murphy field goal and the Orange get a small bit of good news to push them into 2018.

I’m going to assume Rex Culpepper starts this one, and plays better than he did last week. But unfortunately, Syracuse’s defense just isn’t able to do enough to combat BC’s soul-sucking run game. Culpepper minimizes mistakes and leads a few touchdown drives, but the game is more about youth and the future we’re seeing for the program. Moe Neal is the standout for the offense, with over 100 yards and a couple scores on the ground. Another 4-8 season? Yeah....
