Syracuse wearing orange helmets, white jerseys vs. Florida State

A familiar look that I’ve always been a big fan of.

The Syracuse Orange have unveiled this week’s uniform choice for Saturday’s matchup against the Florida State Seminoles. To little surprise, they’re wearing white jerseys on the road. But the rest of the uniforms are decidedly more orange.

Though this is Syracuse’s first time wearing an orange helmet, white jersey and orange pants in 2017, they have donned the look before. SU last wore the combination in 2016, in the record-setting loss to Pittsburgh. They also wore it at Florida State and at NC State in 2015 — though both of those games also ended in defeat.

SU’s actually gotten quite a bit of use out of the orange uniform elements this season, which is a nice change. This is the fifth game with the orange helmet, and also the fifth with the orange pants. Syracuse has also worn orange jerseys four times in 2017.

Since this uniform set was unveiled back in 2014, Syracuse is 8-18 with the orange helmets, 4-12 in white jerseys, and 7-10 in orange pants. None of those are great marks, though as always, it’s worth noting that SU just hasn’t won a lot in general since adopting this set.

In any case, hopefully the Orange can get their first win wearing this combo on Saturday.
