Syracuse women’s basketball defeats Maryland Eastern Shore, 68-45

Syracuse Orange women’s basketball moved to 2-0 on the season as they beat the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks 68-45 at the Carrier Dome on Thursday. The Orange were headlined by shutdown defense in the second half and by point guard Tiana Mangakahia’s first double-double at Syracuse.

Mangakahia scored 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting, and she dished out 10 assists in 34 minutes of on-court time. To add to Mangakahia’s efforts, Miranda Dummond contributed 19 points and eight rebounds in 29 minutes. Isis Young and Raven Fox contributed six and five points off the bench for the Orange, respectively.

What’s Next

Syracuse (2-0) will welcome the Hartford Hawks (0-2) into the Carrier Dome on Monday before jetting off to Washington, D.C. to partake in the Paradise Jam over the Thanksgiving holiday.
