Jimmy Boeheim nails three for Cornell to start off Syracuse game

And Jim Sr.’s reaction was exactly what you’d expect.

NCAA Basketball: Cornell at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

When the Cornell Big Red took a 3-0 lead less than 30 seconds into the season opener at the Carrier Dome, it’s likely Jimmy Boeheim was pretty happy to see the Syracuse Orange down early. And his dad, Jim Boeheim probably was too.

The Cornell freshman started his career in a place that’s pretty familiar to him -- albeit in a different context. And as if it was written up in a book, Boeheim (the younger one) nailed a three right in front of the Orange bench to score the game’s first points.

He’d end up with five points on the first half, though that shot obviously rang the loudest of any hit by either team through 20 minutes.

Here’s the video below for the cool (yes, even though it was for the opponent) moment.

Also, the screen shots of Jim Boeheim being exactly as stoic as you’d expect...

Never change, Jim. Also, congrats to Jimmy!
