Week 8 polls provide the latest picture of college football

It took almost every second on the clock for the Miami Hurricanes to avoid an upset bid from the Syracuse Orange on Saturday.

That showed one coach that Syracuse deserves to be in the top 25! So that’s cool. This is the first time SU has received votes since the week two polls (when they had four).

Here’s how the rest of Syracuse’s past and future foes fared in the AP and Coaches polls:

(AP/Coaches)

No. 7/No. 7 Clemson Tigers

They did not play this week, but the coaches decided to even things out and move the Tigers up a spot in their ranks.

No. 8/No. 8 Miami Hurricanes

So we know what happened on Saturday, Miami beat Syracuse 27-19. They went down one in the coaches poll, switching with Clemson. Slightly weird given Clemson lost to SU and Miami won.

No. 14/No. 15 N.C. State Wolfpack

State climbed up two spots in both rankings even though they did not play either. (No. 21/No.21) USC made some room for them with their loss to (No. 9/No. 10) Notre Dame.

No. 23/No. 23 LSU Tigers

Ranked for the second time in a row, the 6-2 Tigers are looking better than they have in a while. Derrius Guice ran for 276 yards against Ole Miss to get them a 40-24 victory.

Also receiving votes: Just Syracuse. Nice.
