Matthew Moyer’s versatile skill set was exactly what the Syracuse Orange needed to keep the defense guessing last year, but his season (the entire season) was cut short by injury. Now, with openings at forward, Moyer has a chance to assert himself as a go-to player.

So, we know you've waited a while, but you'll finally get the chance to see what Moyer can provide to this team. First off, his ability to handle the ball at his size makes him a lethal weapon in coach Jim Boeheim's offense. Sure he doesn't have the handles of a John Gillon, but having a 6'8" lanky forward who can handle the ball in transition will make life easier for primary ball handler, Tyus Battle. It also helps that Battle and Moyer are best friends.

Moyer is a gifted athlete who is capable of finishing above the rim whenever he wants. He’s not known for his jumpshot, but he does have the ability to keep the defense guessing with a decent long range shot. Those attributes make him the prototypical wing for a coach Boeheim offense, allowing him to put out versatile lineups that can beat the defense in many different ways.

Going back to his size, Moyer has the ability to cause chaos on the defensive side of the ball, making it difficult for guards, and bigs, to finish in the paint. If he's able to stay out of foul trouble, look for Moyer to make an instant impact by creating transition opportunities.

The wait is over and the question we’ve all been asking ourselves will be answered soon: what will Matthew Moyer bring to the Syracuse? Best guess: A dynamic forward who will help relieve some of the pressure that'll be on Battle.

Moyer may or may not be a starter, but whenever coach Boeheim decides to check him in, the versatile forward will likely be in attack mode. The key for Moyer will be whether he was able to add a consistent jump shot over the last year. Adding that — even at a 40-percent clip — to his projected defensive prowess could make him a rising factor for SU each night.

Based on the experience (or lack thereof), he’s going to see minutes by necessity. We’ll see how much those minutes add up to meaningful production early on.

Stat Prediction: 12.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists
