Syracuse football returns to bowl watch!

Looks like the media has some faith.

It’s been awhile since we had a bowl watch around here (it disappeared after the week two loss). But the Syracuse Orange are 4-3 on the season and look like a real contender to make the postseason this year despite a schedule that appeared — and still appears — to be prohibitive.

Not EVERYONE thinks Syracuse is headed to the postseason now. But a bunch of media outlets do. We showcase them below:

CBS Sports: Independence Bowl vs. Oregon Ducks

College Football News: Pinstripe Bowl vs. Iowa Hawkeyes

ESPN: Birmingham Bowl vs. Memphis Tigers

SB Nation: Pinstripe Bowl vs. Iowa Hawkeyes

Sporting News: Music City Bowl vs. Kentucky Wildcats

The most worrisome matchup there is Memphis, but it’s also the most fun. Oregon would be an interesting narrative for Eric Dungey, even in Shreveport, La.

SU’s biggest draw is obviously the Pinstripe Bowl and the stage that provides, even against “national basketball powerhouse” Iowa. Realistically, this is our best bowl possibility right now -- it’s also the toughest place to realistically deliver on the promise of the offense given the likely weather issues that would occur at that time.

What do you think? Glad to be back in ANY bowl? Aiming higher than these sites? Share your own thoughts below.
