Syracuse women’s basketball remains in Coaches Poll at 25th

Recent losses haven’t harmed SU enough to relegate them to the realm of the unranked.

The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team dropped in this week’s polls, but not enough to fall out completely -- at least in the USA Today Coaches Poll, anyway.

SU was 21st last week, but a double-digit defeat to top-10 Louisville knocked them down to 25th. Over in the AP Poll, they fell out completely, though were just a handful of votes outside the rankings. A win this week over Virginia already sets them up well to be right back in next week.

Looking up and down the polls, it’s going to be a challenge for the hot-and-cold Orange to stay afloat without more consistent shooting. Their win over Virginia on Monday night was hard-fought, but also featured a horrendous shooting performance.

Still to go for Syracuse this season, based on this week’s (Coaches Poll) rankings: no. 6 Notre Dame, no. 8 Florida State, no. 14 Miami, no. 15 Duke and no. 23 NC State. They also have no. 9 Louisville and no. 21 DePaul already in the rear-view (both losses).

Syracuse women’s basketball is back in action on Thursday night down at Clemson. They also play a third game of the week on Sunday vs. Boston College (at home).
