Chris Duarte, a versatile class of 2017 guard prospect, will visit the Syracuse Orange for a second time in a month, a source confirmed to TNIAAM. 247Sports first reported the news. He first visited a few weeks back when Syracuse knocked off Pittsburgh in the Carrier Dome.
The visit will likely take place on Sunday due to the Orange’s away game at Notre Dame on Saturday.
Duarte is also being recruited by Arizona, Kansas, Florida, USC, Dayton, Providence, Seton Hall and USF.
Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins watched Duarte on Sunday morning against New Hampton Prep. RCA coach Tristan Walker told 247Sports that Duarte’s first visit to Syracuse went extremely well.
“He loved the facilities,” Walker said. “He loved the hospitalities. He spoke with coach Autry and coach Boeheim. Those are two that I speak with the most as well. They love his versatility. It’s the fact that he can play the one, the two or the three. He’s interchangeable. He’s got the length that they look for on defense in that 2-3 zone too.”
Syracuse will be back on Thursday to watch Duarte and RCA take on Eric Ayala and Putnam Science Academy. The Orange is recruiting Ayala as a 2017 prospect, but his offer is good for 2018 if he were to decline his option to reclassify.
Class of 2017 point guard prospect Howard Washington, Jr. was on campus for SU’s victory over Boston College on Saturday. He attended the game with 2017 signee Oshae Brissett. The two are teammates at Athlete Institute.
