Class of 2017 recruit Josh Palmer has decommitted from Syracuse, 247Sports first reported on Friday. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver is scheduled to take an official visit to Tennessee this weekend.
Palmer previously committed to Syracuse last June.
He is rated three stars and the nation’s No. 118 wide receiver by 247Sports. The St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) prospect was the top-rated wide receiver in Syracuse’s 2017 recruiting class.
The news comes somewhat as a shock as Syracuse quarterback commit Tommy DeVito told Syracuse.com less than two weeks ago he believed every member of SU’s 2017 recruiting class is “100 percent in.”
Palmer is still expected to take his previously scheduled official visit to Syracuse at the end of January along with a number of Orange offensive commits, including DeVito, according to Syracuse.com.
The three-star wide receiver is also scheduled to take an official visit to UCLA next weekend, according to 247Sports.
Palmer recorded 28 receptions for 472 receiving yards and eight touchdowns his senior season, according to MaxPreps.
