Syracuse vs. Wake Forest will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on regional networks

This isn’t ideal, for various reasons.

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The ACC has released portions of the television schedule for Saturday, October 8, including the network and time details for the Syracuse Orange’s road game at the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Ends up that “barnburner” will appear on your respective regional sports network at 7 p.m. ET. An odd development, really.

Syracuse (2-2) faces Notre Dame this weekend, while Wake Forest (4-0) takes on NC State. The two private schools are far from your typical primetime matchup ESPN and the ACC feature, but they’re also holding on three other conference games that weekend (FSU/Miami, Virginia Tech/UNC, Notre Dame/NC State).

It’s Syracuse’s first time going the RSN route this year. Colgate and USF were both relegated to ACC Network Extra (ESPN3), while Louisville got ESPN2 treatment and UConn was on CBS Sports last week. This Saturday’s game against Notre Dame appears on ESPN, as confirmed yesterday.

In some ways, this game time is a positive development, since primetime means some quality tailgating down in Winston-Salem and the RSN treatment means more people can watch on actual television. On the other, this game gets drowned out by more notable matchups later in the day. Also, I have a wedding to attend at 5 p.m. PT, so this does me no favors (while the typical early kickoff would’ve helped immensely).

So what do we think? Happy? Don’t care? Either way, Syracuse aims for its fifth straight win in the Demon Deacons series on October 8.
