The Syracuse Orange women’s soccer team won its fourth straight contest on Thursday night, a 2-0 victory over Buffalo. Junior forward Sheridan Street scored the first goal of the game in the 63rd minute, and then junior Alana O’Neill later added a second to top off the win.
SU was attacking for much of the contest, with 12 shots on goal, keeping Bulls goalkeeper Laura Dougall occupied for the entirety of the evening.
While collecting five saves, it was junior Courtney Brosnan’s third consecutive clean sheet, and fifth overall on the season. Syracuse has not allowed a goal in over 301 minutes of play now.
The Orange now stand at an impressive 7-1-1 on the year, already equaling last year’s win total. It’s the program’s best start since 1996. They’re 4-1 at home thus far, with the lone defeat coming to Bucknell.
Syracuse failed to receive any votes in last week’s NSCAA coaches poll. We’ll see if that changes come next Tuesday (when the next polls come out) given their continued strong play. SU has a chance to grab a win against 20th-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday, which would certainly help their case. That game is at noon ET at SU Soccer Stadium.
