Name: Miles Gordon Robinson

Position: Right Centerback

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6’2"

Weight: 185lbs

Hometown: Arlington, Massachusetts

High School: Arlington High School

Club Teams: FC Boston Bolts

2015 Stats: Named to the ACC, TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News Freshman Best XI squads; Robinson netted 4 goals on the season; Named to ACC All Tournament team; Part of 9 cleansheets on the year.

2016 Projections: He’s probably the first or second name on the team sheet. Miles is a USMNT U-20 call up and just overall quality that you don’t find all the time on the college level. He’s a big body who’s athletic enough to play with anyone in the league.

How'd He Get Here?: Picked up by Coach Ian McIntyre out of the FC Boston USDA Academy.

What Does the Coaching Staff Think?: He fits Coach Mac’s mold for a forward playing, solid on the ball defender to a point. One of the main tenets of playing a 3-5-2, such as Coach Mac has been, is that the centerbacks need to be standouts while playing the ball. Miles, as well as fellow CBs Louis Cross and Kamal Miller can do that in spades.

He’s fully capable of closing down a breakaway or sticking a hard tackle on someone drifting through the box. He’s not as good at a long cross as Miller, but seems to be willing to play the pragmatic pass. As noted in his two goal outing earlier in the year, he’s a beast on set pieces as well.
