After a win in week one, it looked like the Syracuse Orange were getting the early benefit of the doubt from some college football media-types around bowl projections. A big loss in week two, unfortunately, lost us a lot of that bandwagon we grabbed seven days ago. Granted, we were supposed to lose to Louisville, so this wasn’t a surprise. But... whatever. People aren’t on board anymore for some reason.
Just one straggler is left. And we’ll thank College Football News for its faith, downgrading us to the Birmingham Bowl and a date with Memphis.
Last week, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach believed, and now doesn’t. SB Nation’s bowl projections haven’t been updated since preseason, and those included a trip to the Quick Lane Bowl. We’ll see if Syracuse is still included when they’re updated next.
Campus Insiders, CBS, ESPN’s ACC Blog, ESPN.com and USA Today were all no-gos. Perhaps we gain a few of them back this coming week, if we can manage to beat USF?
