Syracuse football recruiting: Canadian OL Patrick Davis verbals Orange

Syracuse picked up a commitment from one of our neighbors to the north.

Cue the Canada/Syracuse jokes. Syracuse Orange football snagged a verbal commitment Saturday from Sherbrooke (Quebec) Champlain offensive lineman Patrick Davis. The news was first reported by Mike McAllister at CuseNation.com.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder is unranked by recruiting services but SU clearly saw something in him. They invited him to campus on June 19 and he returned unofficially this past weekend to shore up his decision. Some other schools saw something as well, including Buffalo and North Dakota, who both offered him. Rutgers also invited him to a camp over the summer.

Davis played all three positions on the offensive line during his high school career.

Davis makes the 2017 class 17 strong now and he's the second offensive lineman alongw with Dakota Davis. Guess we're on a Davis-only lineman policy. We're also not shy about tapping into the Canadian talent pool as Davis joins linebacker Tyrell Richards and wide receiver Josh Palmer as 2017 recruits with ties to the country.

Check out Davis' highlights below.
