Syracuse Orange fans looking to follow the eight individuals with Orange ties who will be part of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games can use this guide to find out when and where to view their events. Seven Syracuse athletes (and Jim Boeheim) are in Rio competing for National and Orange pride.
All events will be available online at NBC’s Olympics website and all times listed are EDT.
Basketball
Carmelo Anthony, Jim Boeheim, and Team USA will face the following Group A schedule: China on August 6th at 6:00 p.m., Venezuela on August 8th at 6:00 p.m., Australia on August 10th at 6:00 p.m., Serbia on August 12th at 6:00 p.m., France on August 14th at 1:15 p.m.
Michael Gbinije and Nigeria will play the following Group B schedule: Argentina on August 7th at 9:30 p.m., Lithuania on August 9th at 6:00 p.m., Spain on August 11th at 6:00 p.m., Croatia on August 13th at 9:30 p.m., Brazil on August 15th at 1:15 p.m.
The basketball medal round begins on August 17th and concludes with the gold medal game on August 21st at 2:45 p.m.
Field Hockey
Alyssa Manley and the USA Women’s Field Hockey squad begin Pool B play on August 6th at 4:00 p.m. against Argentina. The US will play Australia on August 8th at 9:00 a.m., Japan on August 10th at 4:00 p.m., India on August 11th at 6:30 p.m., and conclude pool play against Great Britain on August 13th at 5:00 p.m.
The field hockey medal round begins on August 15th and the gold medal game will be held on August 19th at 4:00 p.m.
Rowing
Natalie Mastracci returns for her 2nd Olympics as a member of the Canadian Women’s Eight boat. The defending Olympic silver medal squad begins competing on August 8th at 9:30 a.m. Finals for the Women’s Eight will be held on August 13th at 10:04 a.m.
Track & Field
Uhunoma Osazuwa will return for her 2nd Olympics as she competes for Nigeria in the Women’s Heptathlon. The 1st of the seven events which comprise the Heptathlon will begin on August 12th at 8:45 a.m. The event concludes on August 13th with the 800-meter run at 9:53 p.m. Osazuwa did not complete the event in 2012.
Flings Owusu-Apyapong will represent Ghana in the Women’s 100m dash and 4x100m relay. She was also selected to serve as the flag bearer for Ghana in the Opening Ceremonies. Her competition begins with the 100m on August 12th at 10:55 a.m. The finals for the 100m dash will be held on August 13 at 9:35 p.m. The 4x100m relay will begin on August 18th at 10:20 a.m. Finals for the event will be August 19th at 9:15 p.m.
Triathlon
Katie Zaferes makes her Olympic debut representing the US in the triathlon. The race will be held on August 20th at 10:00 a.m.
