Syracuse Basketball: Andrew White III will transfer to SU

And so our long, regional nightmare is finally over.

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Andrew White III will transfer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers to play for the Syracuse Orange. As a graduate transfer, White III can play immediately.

White had reportedly been choosing between SU and the hometown VCU Rams. The news comes just in time as classes and practice begin this week.

This is the second time White has transferred in his college career, which began with Kansas. He played for the Jawhawks for two years, appearing in 44 games. He then transferred to Nebraska

Andrew White III where he had an All-Big Ten season, finishing sixth in the conference in scoring (16.6), 15th in rebounding (5.9) & fourth in 3-pointers per game (2.6). White was 41.2 percent from 3-point range last season.

White joins an already-deep Syracuse roster and makes it, by our estimation, the deepest we've seen for the school in a good decade. White will be joined in the backcourt by fellow grad transfer John Gillon, true freshman Tyus Battle and sophomore Frank Howard.

Plenty more to come but breathe your sighs of relief and get ready to watch the Orange skyrocket in preseason polls.
