The HEADstrong Foundation announced its annual slate of fallball events for 2016. The Foundation was established by Nick Colleluori, a former lacrosse player at Hofstra, who ultimately lost his battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2006. HEADstrong aims to improve the quality of life for patients and assist families with essential services. Since 2007 it has raised over $8 million and supported thousands of families. The Foundation is Nick’s legacy and if you are interested in getting involved, check out the website here.
The HEADstrong Foundation will put on numerous events this fall featuring exhibition games that include participation from 40 men’s and women’s lacrosse programs across divisions I and II. Syracuse been part of HEADstrong events in the past and once again will take part in the exhibition games held on October 16 at the University of Pennsylvania. Five other DI teams will take the field alongside SU, none of which you’d expect to see on Syracuse’s 2017 regular season schedule.
While fallball events are a great chance to get a look at next year’s roster, this year there will also be a twist. With the NCAA Lacrosse Rules Committee asking teams to experiment with two-pointers in fall games, we could get an opportunity to see how such a change would affect the college game.
