Could This Year's Syracuse vs. Florida State Game Be a Trap?

Sporting News puts this down as a potential trap game for the Seminoles.

Sometimes it seems as though the Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers are always going to be atop the ACC Atlantic and teams like the Syracuse Orange will always be fighting for their table scraps. Eventually things should change (somewhat) but for now SU fans keep wondering about one thing.

The odds say that, eventually, Syracuse has to steal win from FSU or Clemson, right?

You can usually count on one of them to get stung in a road upset each season (the last few years notwithstanding). FSU got bit by Georgia Tech on the road last year. The Seminoles got nipped by NC State on the road in 2012. Georgia Tech took out Clemson at home in 2011.

So the odds say that if it's going to happen, it's going to happen when one of them plays on the road. It also seems to happen later on in the season, when injuries have taken a toll, momentum has shifted and teams start to look ahead towards end goals.

Perhaps that's why Sporting News has listed the November 19 Syracuse vs. Florida State game as a potential trap for the Seminoles this season.

"It’s a trap!" Florida State’s ACC fate will likely be all-but decided by the tiime it plays Syracuse, but a trip to the Carrier Dome comes one week before the rivalry game with Florida. Syracuse should be more comfortable under first-year coach Dino Babers by then, and it’s a game that could get interesting.

Obviously, we've got a long way to go before we know if this team is capable of something like that this season. But, if Dino Babers' offense starts to click and the Dome is packed and SU can remember what it was like to trade blows with LSU for a while last year...it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Or we might lose by 30. Either or.
