Name: Chris Gomez
Position: Defense/Midfield/Wingback
Year: Sophomore
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 165 lbs
Hometown: Jamison, Pennsylvania
High School: Central Bucks East
2015 Stats: Chris didn’t record any minutes in 2015 and should be potentially eligible for a redshirt if he so desires.
2016 Projections: Gomez got a bit of run this spring at the left wingback position. That most likely will be where he slots into the 3-5-2, as a backup for Liam Callahan, the incumbent. We’ll see how that pans out moving forward. Callahan has been starting the preseason matches, but Gomez started in the spring.
How'd He Get Here?: A Philadelphia Union academy prospect, Chris came in as the 18 ranked recruit in the country by College Soccer News and was a four star prospect by TopDrawerSoccer.com. He was also capped for the US U-15 BNT.
Links of Wonder: During the 2013 season, Gomez blogged about his time at the Nike Combine, one of the US Development Academy combines held at Nike HQ in Oregon. It’s a pretty good read and interesting to see some of what happens at these academies.
He was also profiled by The Brotherly Game, our Philadelphia Union SBNation affiliate back when he was with the academy, which is also worth a read.

Tweets of Wonder: Don’t know, tweets are protected and such.
Interesting Nugget O' Interest: While at the Philadelpia Union Academy, Gomez played with one of our other Class of ‘19 members in Morgan Hackworth. Hackworth’s father John Hackworth was the first team coach for the Union at the time.
