Get To Know Your Orange Man - No. 28, DB Christopher Fredrick

The defensive back looks for playing time after a redshirt season.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Christopher Fredrick

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Freshman (Redshirt)

Height: 5-11

Weight: 189 lbs.

Hometown: Conley, Georgia

High School: Cedar Grove

2015 Stats: Frederick redshirted last season with the Orange, which was his first on campus. He has yet to see the field for SU.

2016 Projections: Fredrick is listed as the third cornerback (of three) on Syracuse's post-spring depth chart behind redshirt junior Corey Winfield and redshirt senior Wayne Morgan. Don't expect much playing time for Fredrick this year, but an injury here or there could get him on the field.

How'd He Get Here: Fredrick had offers from Minnesota, Mississippi State, Cincinnati and others. He turned down all of them to come to Syracuse, and made his commitment without even taking a visit to SU.

What'd Recruiting Sites Say?: ESPNScout and 247Sports all gave Fredrick three stars.

Money Quote: At the time of his commitment, Fredrick had this to say to Syracuse.com's Stephen Bailey:

"I was going to commit earlier, but I was waiting on my parents because they weren't sure about me going that far to school," Fredrick said. "I chose Syracuse because they're great academically and I believe if I go in and work hard, I'm going to be able to play early."

Links of Wonder: Scout's Mike McAllister talked to Fredrick after his commitment to 'Cuse.

What Does The Coaching Staff Think of Him?: It's obviously a different coaching staff than the one which recruited him, and Babers and Co. hasn't said much about Fredrick yet. We'll keep our ears open.

Tweets of Wonder: Not his tweet, but he is featured

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Fredrick was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing basketball and running on the track team.
