WATCH: Syracuse QB Recruit Tommy DeVito Talks About Commitment, Future Plans

New, 34 comments

Our partners with SB Nation College Football spoke to QB recruit Tommy DeVito, who is all-in with the Orange.

The Syracuse Orange have a lot of great recruits lined up for the 2017 Class but perhaps none who garners more excitement than quarterback Tommy DeVito. DeVito spoke with SB Nation Football during The Opening, an annual showcase for the nation's top prospects.

DeVito makes one thing clear to all Orange fans. He is ready for the spotlight. When asked what his biggest on-field strength is, he replies "winning." This should be music to the ears of any Syracuse fan as we wonder if maybe this kid has what it takes to lead this team.

Another positive sign from DeVito's interview is that he reaffirms his commitment to the Orange. He talks about the fast-paced offense and describes it as "a quarterback's dream." He also cites the coaching staff, facilities, and proximity to home as the main reasons why he chose SU. DeVito states that he is 100% committed to the Orange and that he does not even have a backup plan if things were to change.

He even goes as far as to say he's excited to be one of program's recruiters for the next year. "I get to recruit for them. I get to pick what athletes I want around me. Help recruit them. Show them how good the school is."

Tommy is also asked in the interview about how quickly he will see the field. He explains that the coaching staff has not given him a definite answer, but it will all depend on how quickly he can pick up the playbook and audible signals. If he can master both of those early on, it seems like he will get a real shot to be the leader of this team.

All in all, this is great news for Syracuse fans as a highly talented kid, who was invited to the Elite 11 Finals, is firmly on board for 2017.
