Get To Know Your Orange Man - #61, OL Sam Clausman

The redshirt freshman will look to make an impact this season.

Name: Samuel Clausman

Position: Offensive Guard

Year: Redshirt Freshman

Height: 6’ 3”

Weight: 324lbs.

Hometown: Pembroke Pines, Fla.

Highschool: St. Thomas Aquinas

2015 Season: Clausman redshirted during the 2015 season.

2016 Projections: Clausman was listed as the backup at left guard behind Aaron Roberts on Syracuse’s post-spring depth chart. With the new fast-paced offense, Clausman could see some time depending on how many offensive linemen Babers and staff use.

How’d He Get Here?: Clausman chose Syracuse over offers from the likes of Purdue and Marshall, among others.

What’d Recruiting Sites Say?: Scout, ESPN, and 247 all said three stars while Rivals rated Clausman at two stars.

Money Quote: When he committed, Clausman was excited for a chance at starting.

“I was like, ‘Woah, I will be playing my freshman year of college, possibly starting.’ I just have to work hard for it.”

Links of Wonder: Nate Mink wrote about Clausman and his high school teammate Colin Byrne giving back-to-back commitments to the Orange.

What Does Babers Think of Him?: He hasn't said much but Sam tweeted this when Dino was hired:

Interesting Nugget O’Interest: Sam was First-Team All-State at the 7A level in Florida. 7A is the second highest classification in Florida. A level that plenty of powerhouse schools play in.
