The Top 100 recruit explains a bit about why he ended up (eventually) choosing SU.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Taurean Thompson made a lot of Syracuse Orange fans happy when he finally committed to play for SU on Friday. The Top 100 recruit completes the Class of 2016 and fills a critical spot in a frontcourt that desperately needed depth.

Saturday, Thompson spoke with Mike Waters about why he ended up picking Syracuse over the Michigan State Spartans and Seton Hall Pirates.

"I had a bunch of great schools to choose from,'' Thompson said in a telephone interview Saturday night. "I was weighing my options. It was a tough decision.''

"I sat down and thought it out,'' Thompson said. "I thought about what I liked and what I didn't like until I got comfortable.''

"I felt comfortable with the school,'' he said. "I was familiar with everybody. I felt it was the place for me to be.''

Thompson also talked about his relationship with Adrian Autry, who was "yelling" when Thompson told him he was coming to Cuse. Sounds like the two have a great relationship and he also appreciated the attention that Jim Boeheim showed by attending Brewster Academy games.

Taurean also appreciated that Syracuse was "loyal" to him and that he has "no regrets."

Next up, Thompson plans to attend SU's second summer session so he can get ahead academically and training-wise. Better late than never...
